ALBANY, N.Y. — A former Boston Red Sox All-Star comes to the area for a meet and greet.

Fred Lynn made a visit to the Albany Country Club for the Center for Disabilities Golf Classic. He also just happened to get a surprise greeting from students of the Langan School at the Center for Disability Service. The children and staff welcomed him, adorned with Red Sox jerseys and hats.

The all-star centerfielder and Red Sox Hall of Famer played in the major leagues for 16 seasons. These days, he’s been involved with many areas of charity work.

“But this one today was really eye-opening for me,” Lynn said. “Those women that were handling these young people, they’re just phenomenal. It really tugs on you when you see these kids.”

On the baseball side of things, Lynn went on to say that while that Yankees-Red Sox rivalry still exists, he’s actually friends now with many of the Yankees he played against in the 70s.
