Travelers and Sea Dogs Aid Good Shepherd Food Bank

Travelers, a leading provider of auto, home and business insurance, and the Portland Sea Dogs celebrated Travelers Night at the Ballpark on Sept. 1 at Hadlock Field in an effort to raise money for the Good Shepherd Food-Bank, the largest hunger relief organization in Maine. Boston Red Sox Great, Fred Lynn, threw out the ceremonial first pitch, which generated $2,000 for the charity on behalf of Travelers, and in further efforts to support The Good Shepherd Food-Bank, Travelers and The Portland Sea Dogs, hosted a food drive, which encouraged fans to bring in non-perishable food items to donate. In addition to the $2,000 donation, Travelers and the Sea Dogs are proud to announce that this effort brought in more than 1,000 pounds of food for local Maine families in need, equivalent to 975 meals.
Fred Lynn was also on site during the game at the Travelers Photo Experience on the third base side of the concourse and fans had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the former Red Sox All-Star on their own personalized cover of the Portland Sea Dogs game program. As an additional activity, fans also had the opportunity take part in the interactive Travelers Putting Challenge, where they could putt for the chance to win great prizes.

Leading up to Travelers Night at the Ballpark, fans were invited to stop by the Customer Service Booth within Hadlock Field at Sea Dogs’ home games to enter for a chance to win the ultimate VIP Fan Experience. The winner was announced on Aug. 21, Michael Rogers received 15 tickets in “The Picnic Grove” at Travelers Night at the Ballpark, on-field access to meet the Portland Sea Dogs manager and players, a signed, Sea Dogs jersey and an exclusive meet and greet with Fred Lynn.
